Equipment used in radio broadcasting are classified in 2 major categories and these are the transmission:
- Transmission Equipment and;
- Studio Equipment
While there could be endless lists available, what you’ll find here are the ones that radio station can’t live without.
Essential Equipment not to be Forgotten
But for the purpose of this article, we will be focusing on transmission equipment.
- Transmitter – this takes the broadcast message directly from the studio room to the listeners.
- Receiver – its function is to receive broadcast message and decoding the radio sine waves.
- Antenna – this is intended to send radio signals. It is also required for making transmission and receiving radio waves.
- Transmission lines – as for this one, it’s intended to transfer radio signals from one place to the other.
- Audio processor – the way it works is to improve and optimize the overall sound quality that has to be broadcast. In this modern day, its function can be done by inexpensive software applications.
- Connectors – as the name implies, this is designed to connect multiple equipment to each other.
- Interface panel remote control – the interface panel is being used for inputting broadcast data into the transmitter. Remote control is also required in order to feed those data from afar.
